Cleaning Expedition

23 Things Cleaning Expedition

This past weekend was a cleaning expedition at our house. We needed to houseclean our library/computer room. There was literally a single path in and out of the room. The right side of the room has built in bookshelves from floor to ceiling. The end has a window. The computer desk was in front of this window. The left side has a closet, since this was essentially a fourth bedroom, and a wall which had a moveable bookcase. There were also an endtable and variour chairs piled full of books, etc, as well as piles all over the floor.

Our objective was to move the computer desk where the moveable bookcase was and put a chair in the corner with the other bookcase beneath the window.

I started by removing everything from the moveable bookcase and them we moved it out of the room. I then emptied everything to the left of the computer desk and most things on the computer desk. We vacuumed everything as it was empty before moving anything in its place. We then moved the computer desk to its place next to the closet. It fits very nicely.

Next on the agenda, was to start the piles of things on the tables and chairs in from of the built-in shelves. When the first section, there are 3, was cleared I then started to go through the items on the shelves of the first section.

Now it was time to move the other bookcase back into the room. I decided that it would be the home of all my cookbooks. I worked my way around the room until all items were either designated as keeps, donations to multiple places, recyclables, or just plain junk.

There were 5 bins of my daughters things when she was younger that got packed away to go into our crawlspace.

All in all in was a good weekend's work. The books still need to be reorganized on the shelves and some of the cookbooks need weeded out. If I have some time tonight after these projects, I will start on that.

Then, of course, there are a multitude of piles of books in the bedroom, along with puzzles, which can be coordinated into the library. Hopefully this can be done, or mostly done in a couple of weeks.
